Making original art available to everyone’s home could well be the mission for the Flesherton Art Gallery. Art lover and gallery owner, David Turner is determined to do just that by offering an approach different from many galleries. The Flesherton Art Gallery goes out of its way to make art accessible and affordable. The physical set-up is inviting, many of the artists featured are local, and David is always available to speak to about details surrounding any piece of work.

A contemporary gallery with a focus on art appreciation, David explains, “Art is not limited to showing what is there. It has the boundless ability to portray the physical, spiritual, emotional and imaginary worlds as seen through the eyes of the artist.”

And where opening a gallery away from traditional art centres has meant operating in the red at times, it is now enjoying a degree of success as more and more people anticipate the many exhibitions and artists featured over the year.

There are several group shows where pieces from emerging artists are hung beside those who are internationally known. Likewise, there are a number of solo exhibits, which have proven to be highly rewarding for both art lover and artist alike. “Everyone likes something,” says David, “and it won’t be only the established artist’s work that catches your eye. The art will speak for itself”.
